Carey Robinson - Coach
Originally from Scotland, I am a Mum of 2 kids (11 boy and 8 girl) and 3 pugs, a Wife, a habitual volunteer (Baseball, Cheer, Girl Scouts, you name it), a proficient home improvements “wannabe”, and Tough Mudder enthusiast.
I am super excited to be part of the CrossFit Torque coaching staff!
I walked though the doors of the “old” CrossFit Torque gym on December 1, of 2013 after a few friends had tried CrossFit at other affiliates. They thought it was “up my street”, and the Globo Gym just wasn’t doing it for me anymore. Spin on EVERY Monday and WEDNESDAY, Bootcamp EVERY Tuesday and Friday, I just needed some variety. I loved those classes, but just knew that to keep my interests peaked, I needed to set my sights on some new horizons. It quickly became clear to me that CrossFit would be just the thing.
Almost 5 years later, and turning 40 this year, I decided that I should take my “game” to the next level and become a coach.
I know what it’s like to want to do better, but don’t always have the know how to get started. We get stuck in a rut sometimes. It happens and we’ve all been there. I see my “job” as a coach as being a sounding board for our members to help them set attainable goals, figure out a game plan and encourage them to trust the process along the way. When we take a chance and believe in ourselves, we can do amazing things. Take the time, its so worth it!
So far my highlights of coaching have been when you get those texts saying “HEY! I had a pants suit that didn’t fit me? Now it does and I feel AMAZING! Cant wait for class tomorrow, whatever it is!!” or even just seeing one of our newer athletes improve significantly on a movement over the course of just a one hour class. It’s amazing to see people progressing in a positive manner, no matter where they are in their journey. <3
