I am a former city/south shore/beach girl that somehow, through the weird twists and turns of life, ended up living on a farm in Rutland (yes,  there’s a Rutland in Massachusetts) and even have days where I learn that there was a need for my husband to bring a baby cow into our bathtub… We have two little blond hair, blue eyed farm boys, Drew and Chase, that were destined for this life and at 5 and 7 already have numerous hours of farm work on their resume and have moved 100s of bales of hay. I may live out in the country but my full-time job is here in Foxboro where I am a Liability Manager in the ever-fascinating world of insurance.
My husband and I both love to ski and are working to get the boys into it as well so we can make that a family fun activity… we also love the beach and spend our summers down in Marshfield soaking up the sun.

What was it about CrossFit Torque that made you want to join?

After my 2nd son was born, I was looking for something to motivate me. A co-worker of mine had done some classes and told me about it. I reached out to Amanda to get some info and now it’s been 4 years! I needed something that was structured, challenging and that I could do on my lunch break. If I went to a gym on my own, I would wander around for a bit wondering what to do and leave after a short period of time, out of boredom.

What has kept you coming back to Torque, day after day??

It’s like having your own personal trainer with a great support group every day. I love seeing a movement or a workout and being able to look back at what I did previously and see improvement. It’s very motivating to look back at my numbers from when I first started and see how far I’ve come.

What is your favorite thing about working out at Torque?

The people and the coaches.  Every coach works hard to push you to do your best and help you succeed and hit new goals. You know that coming to class you’re going to get a good workout in and also have some laughs… and it’s comforting to know that no matter how challenging the workout is, you’re not doing it alone and you’re surrounded by others working hard to get through it.

What is your proudest accomplishment thus far?

My deadlift PR and sled push PR. Also, I struggle with flexibility and before starting CrossFit couldn’t bend over and touch my toes which I can do now!

What has been your biggest challenge?

Anything on the bar and double-unders. I had high hopes of getting that unassisted pull-up before turning 40, but it didn’t happen! I know I need to work harder at it for it to happen and I also struggle with my diet on a consistent basis and have to work on that as that will help get that pull-up!

What is your favorite CF movement to do?

Definitely deadlifts and I love sled push days.

What piece of advice would you give to someone who is looking to start CrossFit but hasn’t yet?

Just do it and stop thinking about it! And don’t be intimidated… I definitely was at first, but you learn that there is a modified move for everything and the coaches are so helpful at figuring out what is best for you. I am certainly better after starting this crazy journey![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_gallery interval=”5″ images=”23260,23261,23262″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
