“Lorraine continues to impress me with not just what she can do, but more than that, her consistency! It goes to show what continuous steps forward can do for a person. Plus I also love our GoT talks haha.”

Tell us about you!

My job… it allows me the ability to do the things I love. I can’t say I really have any hobbies unless you count reading, watching TV, spending time with my dogs whilst watching TV as hobbies and I do all of those very well.
I don’t have any exciting aspirations, if asked 20 years ago maybe so, but now I just want to be a little better of a person than I was the day before and that’s not as easy as it sounds !

What was it about CrossFit Torque that made you want to join?

Before joining CrossFit I knew I needed to do something different as far as exercise and a healthier lifestyle , we had got a little complacent in where we were , sometimes you can have just a little too much of a good thing 🙂 All of those “hobbies” were starting to show . My daughter had being doing CrossFit for a few years and had told me I should go that I would love it. Not long after my conversation with my daughter, I took a trip home for my best friends 50th birthday who also does CrossFit and we had a another conversation about it. I think I was intimidated at first but between them both I felt I had to give it a shot. I had driven by your place before you had even moved thinking that’s nice and convenient… and that’s where my thought would end. Anyway – short story long with their words of encouragement, I enlisted one of Jordan’s best friends to join with me, she bailed on me so I won’t mention her name, but it’s Molly, and it was all I needed to just get my feet wet. I was able to convince my husband that he would love it and he joined too.
Just like they said I would, I love it! I have never left the class saying that was easy, but I always leave feeling better than I did before I walked in. I like the challenge and some days are harder than others. I love how my body is feeling , stronger. Although that’s not to say I don’t hobble out of there wrecked (in a good way) on other days.

What has kept you coming back to Torque?

The coaches, they are all amazing and work with you no matter what level you are at and they also know when to push you when you probably won’t. It always has a good positive vibe. Sometimes a really effed up day can be turned around in that one hour.

What is your proudest accomplishment thus far?

My proudest accomplishment…. continuing to show up 🙂 I am still a work in progress. I wish I could say a pull up all by myself or a free holding handstand but for now I am happy with the progress I have made in the year I have been there and knowing  I am stronger and better for it. All the others will come in time and even if they don’t, that’s okay too.

What has been your biggest challenge?

My biggest challenge… continuing to show up , ha! JK , BOX JUMPS! They scare the sh%t out of me. However, I am ALL the way to 18″.  Slow and steady.

What is your favorite CF movement to do?

I love all the strength exercises even the complex movements, they make me feel strong and able-bodied. It’s where I have seen and felt the most change in my body.

What piece of advice would you give to someone who is looking to start CrossFit but hasn’t yet?

If you are not afraid of hard work and some challenging work outs then just do it , you won’t be disappointed . If you are intimidated, buddy up with someone or take a free class with someone who is already doing it. More importantly give it time, my daughter said promise me you will at least do it for 2 months, she was right about that. Its hard and some days it seems almost impossible that you will finish a class in the beginning. So if you trust the process, get out of your own head and stick with it, you will not be sorry.IMG 1428
