Jeff first walked into CrossFit Torque in February of 2014.
Like many people who try CrossFit for the first time, he was curious. Maybe a little unsure of what to expect. But it didn’t take long for Torque to become part of his routine — and part of his life.
For nearly five years, Jeff trained here consistently.
Then life changed. As it does.
Between 2019 and 2025, Jeff stepped away from CrossFit for a while. Schedules change, families grew, and priorities evolved.
In Jeff’s case, his family grew by three new members since we first met him back in 2014.
Life got fuller. Busier.
But even during his time away, Jeff stayed in touch with Amanda — checking in here and there, staying connected to the community he had been a part of for years.
And earlier last summer, Jeff decided it was time to come back.
When Jeff walked back into Torque in June of 2025, something felt familiar right away.
The coaches.
The members.
The energy.
Recently he sent a message to owners Amanda and Sara that summed it up perfectly:
“You ladies have created such an amazing, supportive, welcoming, fun (I can go on) community at CFT. I am so happy to be a part of it again. You should be very proud.”
Coming back after time away can feel intimidating for a lot of people.
Will it be the same?
Will I still fit in?
Will I be able to keep up?
But Jeff quickly realized something important.
Some things hadn’t changed at all.
In his Google review, Jeff wrote:
“I recently returned to CrossFit Torque after taking a few years off from CrossFit. I am so happy to be back, and regret my time away.”
He went on to say:
“The entire Torque team, led by Amanda and Sara, are amazing. The collective team and facilities create an incredibly welcoming, fun, supportive and challenging (in the best possible way) environment.”
That combination matters.
Welcoming.
Supportive.
Challenging in the right way.
Because the best gyms don’t just push you — they support you while you grow.
One of the best parts of Jeff returning?
He didn’t come back alone.
Today, his wife trains with us too.
What started as one person’s fitness journey has grown into something bigger — something shared.
And that’s one of the things we love most about seeing members return after time away.
They remember what it felt like.
The workouts.
The encouragement.
The community.
And they want that back in their lives.
One of Jeff’s final lines in his review says it best:
“I highly recommend anyone who is remotely curious to give Torque a try… you will not be disappointed.”
Sometimes people think they missed their chance.
That too much time has passed.
That they should already be in better shape before returning.
That starting again will be harder than the first time.
But Jeff’s story is a reminder of something we see all the time:
The door is always open.
And sometimes, coming back is even better than the first time.
