“Yes, Nancy! She deserves so much recognition for how much she has achieved inside and outside of the gym. When she first came in, Nancy’s goal was to gain the strength and endurance to climb Machu Picchu – an amazing feat! In addition to crushing that hike, she has also celebrated several other wins in the gym – she has improved in all functional movements, gained strength & muscle, improved her health – all while sharing a smile and warm ‘hello’ for everyone in class. Meet Nancy! I rode a bike from Boston to NYC in the first Boston/NY Aids Ride. I enjoy hiking, travel, walking in the woods with my pup, live music.Â
What was it about CrossFit Torque that made you want to join? I wanted to do weight training for the first time and the location (closest gym to my house).
What has kept you coming back to Torque day after day? The people and sense of community here, it’s a special place. The commitment to the members progress, that they take the time to really understand each member’s goals and challenges.
What is your proudest accomplishment thus far? Went from completely out of shape to a challenging 7-day hiking trip that included a ten-mile, high altitude climb to Machu Picchu. And I am down 30 lbs!Â
What has been your biggest challenge? Burpees and squats
Do you have a favorite movement? Deadlift – I feel strong after doing them!Â
What piece of advice would you give to someone who might be hesitant to start CrossFit but hasn’t yet? Give it a try, you will stay.
If you could have a superpower what would it be? To communicate with animals
