Consistency, not perfection! Let’s talk about how to get fitness into your daily routine – this is not meant to be overwhelming! The idea is to make exercise a non-negotiable part of your schedule, just like brushing your teeth or taking a shower. We want to maintain a strong and healthy lifestyle. So where do we begin to make Fitness a Regular Part of Life?
One of the biggest challenges people face when trying to make fitness a habit is not having a plan. They might say I’m going to exercise every day this week, but not have any details to how and when, what time or even what they will do to workout. This will lead to excuses, leading to failure.
A structured routine helps eliminate decision fatigue and ensures you stay on track. Adding in a routine where a Coach can help along the way is going to give you the best success. When you sit down and talk with us at our No-Sweat Intro, we come up with a game-plan based on your goals. An example of one could be: Monday: CrossFit Group class. Tuesday: 30min midday lunch break walk (preferably outside). Wednesday: CrossFit Group class. Thursday: 30min active mobility stretch. Friday: CrossFit Group class. Saturday: CrossFit Group Class. Sunday: 60min outside activity.
Setting achievable goals will help you stay committed. Rather than aiming for drastic changes overnight, start with small, manageable objectives such as:
As you hit these small milestones, your confidence will grow, and incorporating fitness into your life will feel more natural.
Treat your workouts like important appointments. Set aside specific times during the week for exercise, just as you would for work meetings or social events. Choose a time that fits best with your lifestyle—whether it’s an early morning workout, a lunchtime session, or an evening class.
Now open your Calendar app, seriously, go ahead. I’ll wait. … Okay great, now go to tomorrow, look at your day, pick a 20 min slot, and add in a 10min brisk walk. BOOM.
Don’t have 10 min? No problem. Open your Alarm App. Create a new alarm for the top of every hour on Tuesday Thursday Sat and Sun: 8am, 9am, 10am, etc. until 7pm. Label it “10 air squats”. Now Squat away – this will give you 120 squats for the day, broken into sets of 10 and you’ll feel awesome!
Exercise should be something you look forward to, not a chore. Finding an activity you enjoy increases the likelihood that you’ll stick with it. Whether it’s strength training, high-intensity interval training, yoga, or endurance training, the key is to discover what excites you and keeps you coming back.
Accountability is one of the most powerful tools for building a consistent fitness routine. Here’s how you can stay on track:
Life happens, and there will be times when you miss a workout or fall off track with your routine. The key is to not let one setback derail your progress. Instead of focusing on perfection, aim for consistency.
If you miss a workout, don’t stress—just get back to your routine the next day. If your motivation starts to fade, remind yourself of why you started and lean on the Torque community for support. Or even send me a direct message, I’ll help you out!
A fitness routine should be something you can maintain for the long run. Avoid extreme, unsustainable approaches that lead to burnout. Instead, focus on a balanced approach that incorporates exercise, proper nutrition, rest, and recovery.
Our coaches at Torque emphasize longevity, helping you build a lifestyle that supports your fitness goals while still allowing you to enjoy life.
