There’s a moment — most people who’ve walked through our doors know it — where you’re standing outside thinking: Is this really for someone like me?
Eileen had that moment.
She’s 67. She’d never done CrossFit. She wasn’t sure what it even was. She worried about the weights. She wondered if it was only for people already in incredible shape. And somewhere in the back of her mind, she had a quiet fear that people would laugh at her — even if just behind her back.
She walked in anyway.
That was January. Eileen joined Torque’s ForeverFit program — designed specifically for members 55 and over — and what she found on the other side of that fear wasn’t judgment. It was community. It was coaches who meet you where you are. It was a class full of people asking for modifications right alongside her.
“The class sessions are great,” she told us. “Tons of modifications — and usually asked by more than one person. I’m doing things I would never do on my own. And the time flies!”
She doesn’t make it three times a week every week. Life happens. But when she goes, something shifts.
“I forgot how much I like the feeling of my body feeling a bit more taut. The body is responding. I realize now that I need to — want to — keep going. Do what I can and be happy with that. No judgment.”
No judgment. That’s not a tagline. That’s just what happens when you build a gym culture the right way, for 15 years.
Eileen’s advice to anyone on the fence? “Give it at least 6 tries before you decide. You will not be disappointed — maybe a little sore, but the good kind of awareness of your body, not pain. Do it. You have truly nothing to lose.”
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
If Eileen’s story sounds like yours, we’d love to meet you. Come see what ForeverFit — and Torque — is all about.
