When Johanna walked into CrossFit Torque last April, she wasn’t looking to become a “CrossFit person.”
She was looking for something different.
Like many working moms in their 30s and 40s, Johanna was juggling a lot.
She travels for work.
She’s raising a family.
Her schedule isn’t always predictable.
And like so many women in that season of life, fitness had started to feel complicated.
She wanted to feel stronger — but didn’t want something intimidating.
She wanted accountability — but not pressure.
She wanted to challenge herself — without feeling like she didn’t belong.
And if she’s being honest, she wasn’t sure a CrossFit gym was the place for that.
For a lot of moms, the hesitation isn’t about fitness itself.
It’s about the environment.
Will everyone else be fitter than me?
Will I know what I’m doing?
What if I can’t keep up?
What if this just becomes another thing I quit?
Johanna had those same thoughts.
But instead of talking herself out of it, she decided to do one small thing differently:
She tried something new.
One of the biggest reasons Johanna stayed?
She didn’t do it alone.
Johanna started coming to classes with a few friends — built-in accountability that felt natural, not forced. Showing up wasn’t about guilt or discipline. It was about connection.
Even on weeks when work travel made things harder, she had a place to return to. A routine that welcomed her back instead of punishing her for time away.
And inside the gym, she found something she didn’t expect.
Not pressure.
Not comparison.
But encouragement.
At Torque, Johanna didn’t have to already be strong to belong.
Every workout was coached.
Every movement could be scaled.
Every win counted — no matter how small.
Day by day, she started to challenge herself in ways that felt empowering, not overwhelming.
And that’s when she noticed something shift.
“So thankful that I tried something new,” she said.
“I am challenging myself every day, and seeing strength I never knew I had.”
Not just physical strength — but confidence.
Johanna’s story is for the moms who:
She didn’t change her life overnight.
She didn’t wait until things were “perfect.”
She didn’t become someone else.
She just gave herself permission to try.
And that choice opened the door to strength, confidence, and a routine that finally felt like it belonged in her life.
If you’re a busy mom reading this and wondering if a place like Torque could really be for you, here’s what Johanna’s story reminds us:
You don’t need to already be strong.
You don’t need to know what you’re doing.
You don’t need to have it all figured out.
You just need a place that meets you where you are — and challenges you in the ways that matter.
Sometimes, the strongest thing you can do…
is try something new.
