Strength You Don’t Lose — Even in the Darkest Days

Over the last year, one of our members walked through something no one ever plans for.

Breast cancer treatment.

Appointments.
Side effects.
Hair loss.
Uncertainty.
Dark days.

Recently, she sent our coaching team a note.

It read:

“Coaches, thank you for the love over the last year. These have been some of the darkest days I’ve ever known, yet I’ve never doubted my strength. From short hair grooming advice to rebuilding confidence in semi-private classes, to random check-in texts to making me give a damn about protein and cortisol … thank you. And to the whole team, too. I think Mary & Chelsea have held space for most of the tears, but the love is felt all around.”

There’s a line in there that stopped us.

“These have been some of the darkest days I’ve ever known, yet I’ve never doubted my strength.”

That’s what this is about.

Not about workouts.
Not about PRs.
Not about aesthetics.

Strength.

Strength That Isn’t Just Physical

Cancer treatment changes your body.
It changes your energy.
It changes your confidence.

For many women, it can feel like their body has betrayed them.

But inside these walls, strength is never defined by what’s on the barbell.

Some days, strength meant showing up at all.
Some days, it meant modifying everything.
Some days, it meant crying between sets.

And some days, it meant talking about protein and cortisol when that felt like the last thing worth caring about.

But every single one of those days counted.

Holding Space

There’s something sacred about a place where you don’t have to pretend.

Where you can walk in with short hair you didn’t choose.
Where you can cry and not be rushed.
Where coaches send random check-in texts just because.

Coach Mary and Coach Chelsea may have physically held space for many of the tears — but the love came from everywhere.

Because this isn’t just a gym.

It’s a community that stands beside you when life gets heavy.

Rebuilding Confidence

During treatment, she trained in semi-private sessions.

Not to chase intensity.
Not to “bounce back.”
Not to prove anything.

But to rebuild confidence.

To reconnect with a body that had been through so much.

To remind herself — again and again — that strength was still there.

And maybe the most powerful part of her note?

She never doubted it.

What We Believe About Strength

Strength isn’t something you lose when life gets hard.

It’s something you lean on.

Sometimes it looks like pushing a sled.
Sometimes it looks like getting out of bed.
Sometimes it looks like caring about your protein intake when everything feels overwhelming.

And sometimes it looks like letting people hold you while you cry.

To our member — thank you for trusting us in one of the hardest seasons of your life.

Your strength was always yours.

We’re just honored to witness it.
