Tips for Losing Weight Without Starting Over Every Monday

If you’ve ever found yourself saying “I’ll start again on Monday,” you’re not alone. The truth is, weight loss isn’t about being perfect Monday through Friday and then spiraling on the weekend. Friday night into Sunday is almost 36% of your week. Sustainable weight loss is about creating habits that support your goals all week long—without feeling like you’re constantly starting over on Monday’s.

Here are a few ways to break the cycle, all discussed when someone joins Torque:

1. Prioritize Protein
Protein keeps you fuller longer and helps preserve lean muscle mass. Aim to include a high-quality protein source at every meal: eggs, Greek yogurt, chicken, tofu, or a protein shake.

2. Walk More (Yes, Really)
You don’t need to jump into hour-long cardio sessions. Simply adding more daily steps can move the needle. Try walking for 10 minutes after each meal—it helps regulate blood sugar and adds up to real results. [Check out my post from the other day on [staying active’].

3. Lift Weights (or Start Simple)
Strength training helps your metabolism, improves body composition, and builds confidence. If you’re new to it, start with bodyweight exercises or join a beginner-friendly strength class. (Like the one we offer at CrossFit Torque!)

4. Don’t Skip Sleep
Lack of sleep affects hunger hormones and decision-making. Prioritize 7-8 hours each night, and notice how much easier it is to make healthy choices.

5. Stop the All-or-Nothing Thinking
One off-plan meal doesn’t mean you’ve failed. Keep going. You don’t need to be perfect—you just need to be consistent.

Small daily habits beat Monday-morning overhauls every time.
