We’re Not Done Yet: STEPtember’s Final Push

The energy from the members doing the STEPtember challenge is something I wish I could bottle up and pull from every day. We are in the final push, 11 more days left in the challenge and we’re not done yet.

Upon arriving to the gym, I see 6am member Erin finishing up class, going for an additional 1 mile walk, just 20 min of her day, giving her another 1600-2000 steps to her total.

Then a few hours later, the 9:30am member Deb getting to the gym for 9:10am and going on an additional walk.

At softball practice Wednesday night I saw member Meg drop off her daughter and then go for a walk for the hour practice was going on.

Jill told me that I am pushing her outside her comfort zone more than ever with this challenge. (Although she might have been referring to taking a selfie on a walk 😉 )

Diane is taking the bull by the horns and getting after it day after day.

Barnet is getting home after a 14 hour day in Boston and going for a walk in the dark.

Heck just the other day when all the members in my 6am class were out on a run, I was myself jogging around the gym to get my steps in!

No matter how you slice it, these members are working their tales off to achieve their goal.

We challenged them to walk 30% MORE than their daily average in August. We are more than halfway through the challenge and they are doing it.

Even with a bad day. A day they didn’t’ hit their mark, they aren’t letting it take them out of the game. They are getting back into it the next day and making a bigger impact.

Proud of each of these members taking on a little extra challenge during typically a more busy time of the year with back to school and summer ending.

If you’re reading this and missed out on STEPtember 2026, 1) mark your calendars for next August when we announce 2027, but also, you can start your own personal challenge. Maybe it’s not 30% more steps, but it could be … take a 10 minute walk after dinner; take the stairs; park a little further away from your destination; do some jumping jacks haha!

Whatever it is, start with something small and achievable, and grow from there.
