December 2022 Member of the Month: Linda Chiofar!

I am a health and fitness enthusiast teaching Health Promotion to Nursing and Exercise Science students at UMAss Boston. My husband Paul, and I have been married for 41 years since falling in love at a Bruins game in 1978. Yes, I was a young! My summer fun is participating in triathlons – 75 of them over the past 22 years. I also enjoy yoga, hiking and writing. 

After passing by CrossFit Torque for so many years, I stopped in to check it out a year ago and meeting Chris made me want to join. I honestly had no idea what CrossFit was and mostly wanted a group strength training experience. Chris was warm, welcoming and made Torque seem so inviting. 

The people in the community, without a doubt, keep me coming back. The owners, the coaches and the clients are the people I like to surround myself with. Fun, real, interested in health and wellness and always up for a challenge!

This community inspires me to continue showing up and being consistent with my effort; the consistency is my proudest accomplishment. Some of the workouts can seem really daunting but the coaches always offer modifications and encouragement so that I leave every workout feeling competent and stronger. Training for Life!

My biggest challenge is a pull-up but I’m going to get there someday. And, I like HIIT type WODs that mix cardio and strength. I enjoy variety.

If I could share a bit of advice to one that may be considering walking through the doors of CrossFit Torque as I did a year ago, Just do it! The community, the modifications that the coaches provide create a workout that is just right for and the variety of the workouts are simply incredible. And keep coming back so you can watch your life change.

If I had a superpower it would be to fly so I could sprinkle kindness all over the world.

Finally, I am so grateful for the day that I walked through the doors of CrossFit Torque after driving by for so many years. Life Changing!
