“Nay is such a treat to have in class because she commits to the most basic rule: just show up. No matter how she’s feeling that day, she will adjust accordingly and work at the appropriate limit. She’s always willing to do something just a little bit harder to challenge herself, and she smiles while she’s doing it! Not to mention, she’s hilarious ” -Coach Chelsea
Meet Nay! I love being a nurse and seeing my patients’ progress through hospitalization. I like working with arts and crafts, painting, fixing things around the house, and going out to eat. 🙂
Why did I join Torque? I wanted to improve my strength, reduce pain associated with reduced mobility, have better physical handling of patients, and be healthier in general to be able to have my first child. I believe that staying active has helped me before and during pregnancy, hopefully the benefits will continue after the delivery!
What keeps me coming back? Despite disliking working out, I kept myself coming to CFT focused on my goals. I knew that my body and mind would be better off doing something (against my will) accruing benefits, than staying inert at home. My favorite thing about CFT is that I don’t have to think about anything before I go work out: I get there, there is a coach with a training plan for the day, I do it, then get back home. Easy as it can be!
Some of my accomplishments: Learning multiple movements that I was unfamiliar with, and performing these movements correctly without fear of injuring my body.
Some of my challenges: Flexibility has always been a tough skill for me, I hope to improve that with time.
My favorite movement: Deadlifts, box jumps, and rope jumps.
Advice for anyone that is hesitant to start CrossFit: Don’t hesitate and just do it. It is difficult to adjust to all the new moves in the beginning, but it becomes easy and you will get the work out of the day out of the way.
What would be my ideal superpower? To tele-transport from place to place so I could see my family that is in Brazil all the time that I wanted to.
