Getting to Know Nutrition Coach Jamie

I grew up in the small town of Norwell on the South Shore of Massachusetts. It was a great town to live in and my house was only 10 minutes from the beach!

Growing up it seemed like my mom was ALWAYS in the kitchen. Every night we had home-cooked meals and we were always watching cooking shows together. I would have to say that my mom was the biggest influence in my life to become a dietitian. She really got me interested in nutrition.

Upon entering High School, I found myself more captivated by food labels and was reading all of the ingredients. By the time I was a senior, I knew that I wanted to pursue a career in nutrition.

I received my Bachelors of Science from Framingham State University and completed the Coordinated Program in Dietetics. This is an accredited program by the Academy of Dietetics, which at the time the acceptance rate was only 50% so it was highly competitive. I then completed various internships in clinical, food service, and the community totaling 1000 hours which made me eligible to sit for the national exam to finally receive my title of Registered Dietitian.

Aside from nutrition, I have also loved being active and saw the value in the exercise. From a young age, I played tennis and continued to play throughout High School, and more competitively in college. After college, I took up running, and in April of 2018, I completed my first half marathon in Nashville.

I have been a dietitian for almost a decade and have worked mostly in the clinical setting, meaning hospitals and skilled nursing facilities. I genuinely love helping people and tend to always go “above and beyond” for others.

I recently started practicing nutrition at CrossFit Torque and have loved every minute of it! I love being able to help people become the best versions of them! I have run nutrition kick-starts, spoke to a local gymnastics team, and provided nutrition alongside an 8-week Couch to 5k Program.

True health and fitness are found in the choices that you make repeatedly every day. I don’t believe in diets, quick fixes, or extreme measures for getting results. I believe in the proven consistency of smart choices, discipline, and a healthy balance in all areas and that is what I focus on teaching my clients

Aside from nutrition, I love the beach, reading, and animals! I rescued my dog Ryder in December of 2019 from Alabama.
