Mike Tashjian!
Member since: March 20, 2011
Mike has been a staple in classes on and off for 9 years! He’s a huge asset to our community, introducing us to his wife and kids. This kids have gone through the CrossFit Kids & Teen’s classes as well! The Tashjian’s are always attending our fundraisers and community events. They are awesome!
I grew up in Norwood and now live in Walpole. I am married to my wonderful wife Jen and we have three amazing children together, Cole (17), Lynsey (16) and Georgia (13) who are all members of CFT also. We enjoy skiing during the winter. We are big Boston sports fans and we enjoy going to the games and supporting our local teams. My wife and I also enjoy going to concerts.
What was it about CrossFit Torque that made you want to join back in 2011?
I have always worked out and was looking for something different. I needed a challenge, and heard about CrossFit so I thought I would check it out. I did and got hooked!
What I like about CrossFit is you can always keep improving, its not just about how much you can lift it could be about improving your technique for a certain movement or your time in a WOD.
Having a coach is a HUGE plus because they can see things that you can’t and they can give you immediate feedback.
My favorite thing about CFTorque is the culture. When you are in a positive environment you can just feel it and it can make all the difference in the world.
The coaches and the members is what really makes it a special place.
*What is your proudest accomplishment thus far?
I would have to say learning how to do muscle-ups. Its called a “muscle” up but it takes more than just strength, it’s also about technique.
*What has been your biggest challenge?
My biggest challenge I would say is listening to my body. I tend to want to lift the heaviest, go the fastest and I realized that might not be the best way to go about a workout. You can still get in a great workout, but also still listen to your body.
*Do you have a favorite movement?
Any body weight movements like rope climbs or wall walks. I also enjoy deadlifts!
*What piece of advice would you give to someone who might be hesitant to start CrossFit but hasn’t yet?
I was hesitant too, but once I walked through the door and met Amanda and the coaches all my fears went away. It is not at all intimidating so just walk through the door and come check it out!!
*If you could have a super power what would it be?
To be able to teleport!
Thanks for letting us get to know a little bit more about you Mike!
