June Athlete Focus:  Katie O

“When Katie first joined us, she was a bit unsure about CrossFit, starting at a 3x/week membership.  But, after a few short weeks she enjoyed it so much, I started seeing her almost every day, and I remember going to Amanda and saying, ‘I thought Katie was 3x/week?’ and Amanda said, ‘Oh, she upped to unlimited a couple days ago and she’s crushing it!”

What was it about CrossFit Torque that made you want to join?

I decided to join CrossFit Torque because the previous gym I was going to was closing and the instructor recommended trying out CrossFit. I tried out a free class and knew it was a good fit.

What has kept you coming back to Torque, day after day??

Pretty much everything has kept me coming back. Great challenging workouts, great coaching, friendly people and so much more. I always know I’m going to come in and get a great work out and have a great time.

What is your favorite thing about working out at Torque?

My favorite thing about working out at Torque is probably the variety of workouts. Despite the eye rolls and sometimes sarcastic comments I really love all the workouts. There is always something new and different that I never would have done going to a regular gym.

What is your proudest accomplishment thus far?

There are so many things I’ve accomplished so far but coming to class consistently for over a year and a half is probably my proudest. I never really stuck with any kind of workout program before so this has been a great change in my life.
 

What has been your biggest challenge?

The biggest challenge for me has been doing any of the overhead lifts.
 

What is your favorite CF movement to do?

Sled pushes for sure! I’m kind of competitive so I love seeing how I stack up with the other weights up on the board.

What piece of advice would you give to someone who is looking to start CrossFit but hasn’t yet?

Do it! It’s a great workout that truly anyone can do. There are so many different scaling options and there is always something new to work towards. Give it a try, you won’t regret it!!
