“Dave is a BLAST to have in classes! He works SO incredibly hard, even when there’s a movement he is not as efficient at. He’s the first to joke around with the Coaches, and first to test our musical knowledge ‘Hey Coach – guess who sings this?’. Embracing his new outlook on fitness and nutrition, Dave is making tremendous strides since joining us over a year ago!” -Coach Amanda
Here’s some of my favorite hobbies/things to do:
– Hanging with my wife and 3 kids.
– Big time animal lover.
– Trail walking with my Kentucky and Texas rescue dogs, Sampson and Callie.
– History (particularly Military history).
– Ireland visiting (I’m a fluent Irish speaker and, yes, the Irish do have their own language).
What was it about CrossFit Torque that made you want to join?
My son did middle school programs at a different CrossFit and I saw noticeable gains in his sports programs. I tried it for a little while then, but it was a “different” atmosphere than what I’m experiencing here at CrossFit Torque. I also worked out a lot at Planet Fitness but felt stuck in a rut there.
What has kept you coming back to Torque day after day? And/or favorite thing about CFT?
Coaches are great. Once they are familiar with members, they seamlessly modify the scheduled workouts as needed so you never feel like you’re not part of the class…if that makes sense. You get as much help as needed. And the technique correction and encouragement is constant. Your shoulder is sore, here’s the modified exercise…your ankle? Here’s the modification. There’s never a reason to skip a class.
What is your proudest accomplishment thus far? Running again.
What has been your biggest challenge? Overcoming end of day work fatigue to take a class.
Do you have a favorite movement? Benching and the Dumbbell classes with Coach Sara.
What piece of advice would you give to someone who might be hesitant to start CrossFit but hasn’t yet?
Don’t show up for the first time when there’s a full ongoing class…as it can be pretty intimidating 🙂 but .. There’s a misconception that CrossFit is a type of fitness “cult” : THIS gym is run by people who truly care about making each member healthier in a atmosphere where they feel welcomed.
If you could have a super power what would it be? Immortality
