Strength Training, Perimenopause and Menopause

Hey there! If you’re reading this, you’re probably at a point in life where your body is changing, and maybe you’re starting to hear words like “perimenopause” and “menopause” being thrown around. This is a powerful time of transition, and it’s perfectly normal to feel uncertain about what’s happening with your body.

I get it, starting something new—like strength training—might feel intimidating, especially if you’ve never stepped foot in a gym before. But let me reassure you: my gym is not a place of judgment, it’s a place where you can grow stronger, feel supported, and take control of your health in a way that feels empowering.

Why Strength Training Matters Now More Than Ever

Your body is going through a lot of changes as you approach menopause, and you might already be feeling some of the effects—fluctuating hormones, changes in energy levels, maybe even some extra pounds that weren’t there before. But here’s the good news: strength training can be your secret weapon to not only managing these changes but thriving through them.

1. Prevent Muscle Loss & Keep Your Metabolism Revved

As we age, we naturally lose muscle mass, which slows down our metabolism. Strength training helps you build and maintain muscle, which in turn keeps your metabolism working efficiently. More muscle means your body burns more calories even when you’re at rest. It’s like revving your engine!

2. Strengthen Your Bones

During perimenopause and menopause, women are at a higher risk of losing bone density, which can lead to conditions like osteoporosis. Lifting weights helps to strengthen your bones, making them more resistant to fractures. And don’t worry, we’re not talking about lifting crazy heavy weights on day one. You’ll work at your own pace, building up strength in a way that’s safe and effective.

3. Boost Your Energy and Mood

Hormonal changes during menopause can sometimes feel like a rollercoaster ride. But guess what? Strength training releases endorphins—those feel-good hormones—that can help stabilize your mood and give you an energy boost. You’ll leave the gym feeling empowered, not exhausted.

4. Improve Your Balance and Coordination

With strength training, you’re not only building muscles, you’re also improving your overall coordination and balance, which helps prevent falls and injuries. As we age, it’s important to keep our bodies moving in ways that keep us agile and steady.

But What If You’ve Never Worked Out Before?

That’s completely okay. Everyone has to start somewhere, and my job as your coach is to guide you through each movement, step by step. You don’t have to be in shape to walk through the door, you just have to show up, and I’ll help you with the rest.

The gym environment can be incredibly supportive, and we’ll work on exercises that suit your current fitness level. You’ll be surrounded by other women who are on a similar journey. They’ve been where you are now—nervous, unsure, but determined—and they’ve come out on the other side stronger and more confident. And you will too.

Let’s Make This About You

You are about to enter an exciting chapter of life, one where you can prioritize yourself and your health. Strength training isn’t just about how you look—though, trust me, you’ll love the results—it’s about how you feel. You’ll be stronger, more energized, and more in control of your body than ever before.

So, I’m inviting you to take that first step. Come see the gym, meet me, ask questions, and let’s find a routine that works for you. No pressure, no expectations—just support, guidance, and a path forward to feeling your best.

I can’t wait to meet you and help you start this incredible journey of strength and empowerment. Remember, it’s never too late to begin. You’ve got this!
