Our goals at Torque are to educate and inspire our members!
You have to show up though in order for this to happen. We want all of TorqueNation to participate in our 3rd Annual Intramural Open. Everyone is encouraged to participate – Adults, ForeverFit, Teens, and Personal Training Clients – all are welcome!
Competition helps with the ‘inspire’ part: the pressure to perform pushes you to train harder; the social boost of dozens of your friends cheering for you will help you reach a higher plane. Heck, watching your teammates GO is inspiring.
Every year, CrossFit HQ runs a three-week event called “The CrossFit Open.“ We are taking the idea and putting our own spin on it. We’re not interested in finding out how fast you can exercise against 400,000 other people worldwide. (although if you are, you can sign up through the link provided below).
We ARE interested in helping you push to new levels in fitness, level up your life, and get 1000 fist-bumps from your Torque Family.
Can we bring that worldwide thrill home? Can we deliver all the fun of competition without causing any anxiety attacks? We know we can.
The Intramural Open is our annual tradition at Torque (and thousands of other gyms worldwide are doing the same!) We will use the three workouts from the CrossFit Open, and then week 4 will be one of our own workouts!
This will be our third year! Team Trouble-Unders won last year, Team Quad Squad back in 2021. This year, we’ll divide you up into two teams, each with a Captain and a really great and funny Team name.
You can earn points for your team 9 different ways!! (see below)
Registration will happen between now and January 30th. On Draft Day, you’ll be randomly assigned to one of the two teams. The Captains are tasked with not only recruiting members to participate in the intramural open with it having NO influence on who ends up on their team, but also rallying their team spirit and providing leadership throughout the four weeks.
We’ll be using a whiteboard at the gym to visually show who is signed up to have fun! To Officially Register, please choose one of the following:
The option to sign up for CFHQ Open at the CrossFit Games Site to check your rank worldwide is available, but please note, a sign-up on official Games website does not equate to a Torque registration – they are separate.
The Intramural workouts will have three versions of them: RX, Scaled & Foundations. We will further have divisions that group us into 39 & below as well as 40 & above. We will not be scoring this year based on male vs female, see below for more.
This year your coaching staff battled it out playing Rock-Paper-Scissors to divide us up between the two teams!
+2 Points – Attendance: every member of a team that completes an Open workout at Torque each Friday (Saturday as back-up, talk with your captain) will earn two points for their team.
+1 Point – if you wear your Team’s shirt to Friday’s class during the warm-up!
+1 Point – The top 5 scores from each division will receive one point: RX 39 & below, RX 40 & above, RX Scaled & below, Scaled 40 & above, Foundations 39 & below, Foundations 40 & above.
+3 Points (team) – Spirit: The team with the most noise, pride, and PRESENCE each week will receive 5 bonus points. Spirit Themes will be chosen ahead of time so it will be a true comparison between teams!
+1 Point – leave a positive social media review on Facebook or Google – screenshot and text it to us for it to count!
+1 Point – text us a 0:30-0:45 sec testimonial video of how much you love being at Torque!
+1 Point – attend our Nutrition zoom meeting – day & time TDB
+1 Point – every social media tag you make, your name is entered into a weekly random drawing to win the 1 point! Text us the screenshot of your post.
+1 Point – NEW THIS YEAR – complete the weekly challenge capturing it on film and post it on Social Media tagging CrossFit Torque! For example: it could be …. grab a teammate, wear your team shirt, and buddy carry them 100m! Stay tuned for more details!
The workouts are released from CFHQ for the first three weeks on Thursday’s at 3pm – the final 4th week is Torque’s workout and also will be released on that Thursday. It could be a repeat from last year – time will tell! With announcements on Thursday, this means our Teens can complete the workout that very same day to earn points for their team, and the Adults will be completing the workout on FRIDAY during the regularly scheduled group classes. To reiterate, this means make sure you’re in class on Friday Feb 17, Feb 24, Mar 3 and Mar 10!
For these four weeks, we are adding a 6pm class on Friday nights to make sure our 6pm friends can register and join in on the fun! If you’re worried you’ll miss one of the days because of a previously scheduled ski trip, talk to your captain to see if there’s a way to make up the workout – or – look closely at how you can make up points for your team!
For most of our members, the Open is an annual measuring stick to test their improvements in fitness from year to year. For some, this will be the first one ever – how exciting!
Our Saturday GOAT sessions we have been hosting are a chance to get ready for some of the skills needed for the four-week Open!
If you missed out and you’re dying to get your first toes-to-bars, or link your pull-ups, tell your coach! We’ll get you some 1:1 time and homework!
The top team (points) will earn themselves bragging rights and a banner to be hung at the gym!
Our focus is on FUN. We want 100% participation (Adults, Teens, Kids, ForeverFit, Personal Training) not just because it will help increase your fitness, but it will get you more fist-bumps than ever, and you’ll be happy and love life more!
