Remember back to the time, when the workout that day was absolutely crushing you.
Maybe you didn’t sleep well, or properly fuel your body before; or maybe you were super sore from training four days in a row.
Whatever the details were, you knew you would be the last to finish the 8 rounds for time. The time cap was approaching, and everyone around you was done. You think to yourself, “great, I’m going to be last. Everyone is staring at me because I’m so slow and not done.”
And now, the Coach is standing over you, speaking words of encouragement…
Keep moving. Shake it out. Deep breath. Believe in yourself, you’re strong enough!
Fellow athletes around you are not thinking “wow, Amanda is so slow, I can’t believe she isn’t done yet”. They are thinking “Come on, Amanda, you can do it, keep chipping away at those reps. Almost there.” You just might not hear them, because they are still breathing heavy; they just suffered through the same grueling workout as you.
Oh, and guess what?
The last person to finish will always get the loudest cheers, claps, and most importantly all the high-fives.
Remember something extremely important. Repeat this daily.
You showed up.
You came to the gym. You ignored all the other things you could have been doing, and you did something for YOU.
You worked hard.
You are now healthier, stronger and better by working out today.
Do you remember your time for the workout on that Tuesday back on Nov 15?
Nope.
Do you remember who finished last back in July on the 10th?
Nope.
Because it doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things.
Just show up.
What matters is that you are alive, and able to workout. You are making yourself a healthier member of this community.
