Mark it down: Friday, October 23rd, 5:30 to 7:30pm, right here at the gym. We’re doing something we’ve never done before, and I want you there for it!
Night of the Living Deadlift is exactly what it sounds like — a Halloween-flavored, team-based deadlift workout, plus a chili cook-off, a costume contest, and a food pantry drive, all happening in the same two hours. It’s free to show up. The only thing we’re asking is that you bring a donation for the local food pantry on your way in.
Here’s the breakdown:
The workout. Small teams — (size tbd) — will take on a workout built around deadlifts. This one’s for people who already train. If you’re bringing a friend who isn’t a member, bring the one who already lifts or works out somewhere, not the one who’s never touched a weight before. Fair warning, not a knock — there’s plenty else going on that night for everyone else to jump into.
Costumes. Encouraged, not required — but there are prizes on the line: one for best individual costume, one for best team costume. If you’re doing the team workout, coordinate your costumes with your teammates, because that’s part of the win.
Chili cook-off. Bring your best pot, whatever “best” means to you. Everyone votes, and the winner walks away with bragging rights for the year — and maybe something extra.
Food pantry drive. Bring a non-perishable, unexpired item or two for the Foxboro Food Pantry or the Wrentham Food Pantry. Both take donations directly, and both could use whatever you’re able to bring.
Want to compete in the team workout? You’ll need to RSVP — a sign-up link will be ready in the next couple of weeks, so keep an eye out for it. Everything else — costumes, chili, cheering, donating — just show up.
This is our first time running this one. Come help us make it worth doing again!
