“Kait joined Torque to get herself back into a groove with Fitness and she is crushing it so far! Ramping herself up to a comfortable and consistent four days a week, Kait started to add in the Nutrition Coaching advice she received to her day-to-day. The changes she has seen are so awesome! As Coaches we LOVE when a member embraces all aspects of what we coach here. She is a GREAT person to have in classes, always smiling, introducing herself, and mingling with others; also working her tail off to improve. Kait doesn’t just want to come in and ‘get a workout done’, she actually wants to improve her technique each time, seeking critique and advice. Kait is a wonderful addition to the Torque Community!” – Coach Amanda

Tell us about you!

I love to read! I aim to read for at least 15-30 minutes every night before bed as part of my wind down routine, and I can plow through a page turner in a day or two if I have the time… though that happens much less frequently now that I’ve got two kids. Let me know if you need any book recommendations!

What was it about CrossFit Torque that made you want to join?

After frequently driving by Torque, having my second child in May 2023 was really the catalyst for finally wanting to stop in and check it out. I needed to shake up my approach to fitness – my home workouts weren’t motivating me, and I didn’t want to go back to templatized group fitness classes that lacked customization/individual attention. I also craved community; I didn’t want to breeze in and out of whatever gym I joined without anyone knowing my name. When I took a closer look at Torque it seemed, based on everyone’s reviews, that it had exactly what I was looking for. So I took that proverbial plunge and set up my No Sweat Intro, and I’m so glad I did.

What has kept you coming back to Torque day after day?

First, the people. It’s been great getting to know everyone I attend classes with. Everyone is friendly, motivating, funny, and I can’t stress enough how much I enjoy the sense of community I feel at Torque.

Second, the sense of accomplishment I get from challenging myself to try new things. I am motivated by learning and achieving – both of which I get to do every single class at Torque. It’s great to leave the gym feeling proud of what I achieved during class. And that feeling keeps me coming back day after day.

What is your proudest accomplishment thus far?

In the gym, I was elated when I got my first rope clamp, and I’ve hit some great barbell PRs lately. It’s also been great to experience the smaller (but still big!) wins like feeling more comfortable with certain movements, or progressing on something that was previously a big challenge.

Outside of the gym, I’ve been really solid on my nutrition thanks to the kickstart from Coach Sara during my On-Ramp. I’m seeing and feeling amazing physical change that is a real confidence booster.

What has been your biggest challenge?

With two kids, a full time job, and a generally busy schedule, sometimes just getting to the gym is a challenge. But I’ve found my groove over the last few months and have been able to come consistently 4+ times a week for my non-negotiable hour of “me” time.

Do you have a favorite movement?

Rowing and deadlifts are where I’m most comfortable. But I try to be open to the movements that aren’t my favorite, because as they say, “If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you.” And I’m here for the change.

What piece of advice would you give to someone who might be hesitant to start CrossFit but hasn’t yet?

Just start! I’m sure you’ve heard it before but it’s true. The hardest part sometimes is just walking through the door. And if you need a buddy to help you get through that door give me a call.

If you could have a super power what would it be?

Teleportation. Or disapparation if you’re a Harry Potter fan. I just want to instantly appear somewhere instead of the hassle of travel.
