By definition, the word consistent means ‘acting or done in the same way over time.’ It is to be unchanging in nature, standard or effect over time.
I would say THE MOST important part of being successful with nutrition is being consistent. The decisions we make, every day, every meal, result in whether or not we reach our nutritional goals.
To be successful, you don’t have to be different. You simply have to be what most people are not…….Consistent!
Here are a few examples…..• If someone wants to improve their hydration, it is unrealistic for someone to drink 80 ounces twice a week, if that is their goal, and then only drink 20 ounces the other days. There is no consistency.• If someone wants to improve their sleeping habits and achieve more sleep then getting 8 hours of sleep 2x/week and only 4-5 hours the other nights won’t work. There is no consistency.• If someone wants to lose weight and improve their performance during work outs, then you can’t expect to eat a solid diet of whole grains, lean protein, healthy fats 2x/week and then eat processed foods the other 5 days of the week. There is no consistency!
Are you getting the hang of this?
My number one piece of advice above all else is consistency!
True health and fitness is found in the choices that you make repeatedly every single day. I don’t believe in diets, quick fixes or extreme measures for getting results. I believe in the proven consistency of smart choices, discipline, and a healthy balance in all areas and that is what I focus on teaching my clients.
