Welcome Coach Anthony!

We are so excited to welcome Anthony to Team Torque! Anthony has grown so much as a Coach over the last couple of months. We asked him a few questions so you could get to know him better!

Why am I a coach?

I’ve decided to become a fitness coach for multiple reasons. I understand how important fitness is for a person’s well being and happiness, and to be able to be a part of that is incredible. Here are a few reasons why I decided to become a coach.

  1. Building empowering relationships
  • Coaching gives me the opportunity to build relationships with the athletes. Many athletes don’t realize this, but they are making just as big of an impact on my life as I am on theirs.
  1.  Spreading Knowledge
  • Becoming a fitness coach/trainer is not easy, and takes hours of studying, and hands on experimenting. It is absolutely incredible to be able to spread that knowledge, and see it impact people’s lives for the better.
  1.  My Passion
  • Fitness is my passion. I started training 7 years ago when I was a sophomore in high school. It is by far the best thing I’ve ever done for myself, and now it’s time to help others start their own fitness journeys.

How long have I been coaching?

  • I’ve been coaching for just over a month now. It has been a humbling experience to say the least. Every day I step into the gym, I learn something new. The coaches at CrossFit Torque are extremely talented, and very willing to share their knowledge with me.

My proudest accomplishment

  • My proudest accomplishment so far has been coaching group classes here at Torque. Growing up, I have always been a little uncomfortable in groups of people that I didn’t know. At first, it was intimidating to get in front of an entire class of athletes, but it gets easier every time I do it. The athletes are really great, which helps a lot.

My favorite movement/ workout

  • There are so many different exercises that I do on a weekly basis, which makes it hard for me to choose my “favorite” workout. I’ve always loved the bench press. It increases upper body strength, muscle endurance, and really prepares your upper body for other movements including pushups. I recently changed my workout regiment, focusing less on weightlifting, and more on stretching, cardio, and abdominal exercises. I currently favor running, doing at least 2 miles each day.

Is CrossFit the right fit for you (the reader)?

  • There are many mixed reviews on CrossFit. Clearly many of the people who have bad things to say about CrossFit have never tried it. This style of training really focuses on full range of motion, and mobility. It can and will decrease your chances of getting injured while doing everyday activities. Not only are the workouts great, but the environment is even better. My suggestion is that if you have ever thought about trying CrossFit, but are hesitant, try it. You will not regret it.

What superpower would I choose to acquire?

  • If I could have any superpower, I would choose to be able to read people’s minds. There have been many instances where this superpower would have helped me better understand a situation. You really never know what is running through someone’s mind, which is why you have to be so careful about how you deal with someone. I’d love to be able to use this superpower to help people.
